"One with Nature" Diana Peru Tote

Sale price$550.00

These unique bags are a collaboration between Linny and master weavers in a small village in Peru. They are made using natural American bison leather and pure, naturally dyed wool.

Andean weaving is rich with spiritual symbolism and representations of diverse myths, rituals and depictions of daily life. The communities of weavers tend to use some symbols which are specific to their towns or regions, in the case of the “chumpis” (Quechua word for these type of textiles) all the designs are from Chinchero, Peru which is well known for its history and tradition of weaving.

Many details of the woven fabrics have a meaning, such as the specific symbols woven into the fabrics and their relation to each other, and even the color and spin of the yarn.

The textiles are woven in the Sacred Valley near the base of Machu Picchu where the feeling of connection between humans and the natural world is strongly evident in the people’s art, food and their entire way of life.

The pale yellow and gray colors blend beautifully in these textiles, but if you closely, you'll see the animals of Peru woven in.
